What a Trimester it has been! It was actually honestly kind of unbelievable to me that after my first trimester in which I took FIVE subjects, including my first Japanese courses, and got FIVE High Distinctions, that this trimester with just FOUR courses could have actually felt more intense somehow!
But anyway, exams are over finally! Though funnily enough, at this stage I only have a week to go before my classes for third Trimester begin…
I was Encouraged to Do Some Tutoring
It was interesting how the tutoring that I ended up getting requests for all ended up being that dreaded subject – Business Data Analysis! Thankfully, I actually don’t mind maths, and mostly it didn’t take too much revision of the material to jog my memory on most of the material – everything except hypothesis testing, which was always a bit of a trip!
Business Data Analysis happens to be a core course for a Business degree, and I would presume for Commerce too. So it is understandable that there was such a demand for that.
Feeling Pretty Smashed to Be Honest!
How is everybody else doing, now that exams are over? I honestly have felt pretty smashed! My first results have actually come back, which is pretty encouraging! In spite of the Japanese exam being super difficult, I actually managed to get 72% which will most likely end up landing me a Distinction! All things considered, I’ll be pretty happy with that. Just waiting back for my Business Ethics and Negotiation exams, and then there is the dreaded Digital Marketing Campaign Plan – worth 50% of the course. In spite of the fact that nothing can change what’s done, still it is difficult to just forget all of that and completely relax! Oh, the life of a student – especially when you’re looking to really achieve…
A Few Events in My Life This Week
So tonight, I’m meant to be attending the Annual Celebration event for the Industry Mentoring Program at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Center. It sounds like it’s going to be a pretty major opportunity for networking, but honestly, got to seriously psych myself up! Its “business attire” and the event starts with some kind of “speed networking” activity, which basically amounts to giving a ton of people an elevator pitch of who you are and what you’re up to and what you’re looking to achieve, and giving out a bunch of your business cards.
Tomorrow night, I have a special Congregational Meeting with my Church at West End. I’m actually pretty happy for that. Compared to the energy outlay of a major networking event with a huge crowd of strangers, it will be nice to meet up with people who are basically my family here in Brisbane, hear some about our future direction.
Then Thursday morning, I’m heading to the Gold Coast for the Leadership Transition for the Golden Key International Honour Society Griffith University Chapter. I previously reported (if I remember rightly) about my appointment to the Committee as Public Relations Officer for Brisbane. It will hopefully be a bit of a nice adventure to head down the Coast.
Well, at this point, next Trimester, I’ll just be taking one course – Self-Marketing – which is basically a lot about self-discovery and personal branding. My first class is on October 30, next Tuesday. I’ll most likely write a post for this blog giving a bit of a report on that. It is run as an 8-week intensive course, so I’ll be basically free after Christmas until late February.
Hopefully, in early November, I’ll hear back about my potential participation in the P.A.S.S. program at Uni, as a P.A.S.S. Leader, helping to facilitate sessions of collaborative learning. This could be in any number of core business courses, but of course, the one I hope to participate mostly in would be Introduction to Business Law.
Actually, I think most of my friends know, but it is now official, and I’ve put in my enrollments for first trimester next year courses! I’ve chosen an internal transfer from just Bachelor of Business to start a double-degree, Bachelor of Business and Law from next year! So I’ll be around Griffith for a while longer, I imagine! I actually really love being a student at Griffith.
Long Time, No Post
Well, it’s been a little while since my last post, especially with the hectic nature of the last month – final major assessments and exams! But at least now, this is a bit of an update for those who have been following along. Really appreciate all of my friends, and especially those who have mentioned to me in person that they follow my blog and social media and have been inspired by me to become better students, ultimately better contributors all round. When my energy is low, as it is currently, remembering your kind words helps me to carry on.
Till later, hopefully I’ll be back to writing more regularly soon – especially as I work through the next few months Self-Marketing and personal branding.
