About Steven

Introducing Steven Pidgeon.

My name is Steven Pidgeon. I’m a recent Graduate from Griffith University with Bachelor of Laws (Class I Honours) and Business (with Distinction, major in Human Resources Management). I have also completed my PLT with Leo Cussen Centre for Law in order to seek admission as a solicitor in early-2023, a University student tutor in subjects of law, and a part-time Research Assistant with the Griffith Law School.

I will be commencing my PhD in Mental Health Law at QUT in February 2023, under the supervision of Dr Sam Boyle (QUT Law) and Assoc Prof Matthew Ball (QUT School of Justice), looking at how the concept of dangerousness is constructed in psychiatry and psychiatric evidence, and how this concept informs medico-legal decisions in relation to involuntary hospitalization and preventive detention.

I’m currently based in Brisbane, Australia, though I am originally from Sydney, and would ultimately love to move back to the Blue Mountains one day.

I’ve been a member of the Griffith University Golden Key International Honour Society, Griffith Chapter, serveas as Vice-President in 2019, and President in 2020-2021, Alumni Relations Officer in 2021-2022.

Otherwise, I love reading, writing, playing video games, listening to music, gardening, plus being “daddy” to our sweet kitty, Nixxy.
